The Village Quire

Tour to Suffolk, October 2010

The Quire embarked upon its first tour at the end of October 2010 giving a singing workshop and putting on two concerts.  The workshop was held at The Friend's Meeting House (Quaker Hall) in Beccles, followed by a concert in St Michael's Church, Beccles on the Saturday evening, with the main beneficiary being Help for Heroes.

The church is a wonderful concert venue with excellent facilities and it was a great pleasure to perform there.  Although very big, the superb acoustic carried the sound with ease and it was certainly a night to remember!

The concert raised a grand total of £1044.45 for all the charities, including a £100 donation from Beccles Helping Hands, who held a Ghost Walk which passed through the churchyard during the concert!

The Beccles Mayor's Charity gained £88 from the raffle and the Royal British Legion gained £141.45 from the bar profits.

A big thanks to 'Tosh' of Little Tree Promotions for the enormous effort that went into all of this on our behalf.

On Sunday, 31 October we were delighted to sing The Good Old Way at the wonderful Walpole Old Chapel, near Halesworth in Suffolk.

What a place, what an atmosphere and what a reception we were given!

Given that the Quire rehearses in a historic chapel, Walpole Old Chapel felt like a home from home. Special thanks to Christina van Melzen for organising the event at the chapel and making us so welcome.

Our final thanks go to Graham & Nicky Elliott at Barsham who opened their home to us, organised our accommodation and fed us their highly recommended home-produced organic breakfasts.
