Christmas 2010

There is only one thing that matters about Christmas 2010 and that is the huge vote of thanks necessary for everyone who turned out to see us and gave us such excellent audiences.  We're sure this website is being secretly accessed by The Weather because every Christmas event was preceded by a deluge of white stuff and had to be attended by battling through it and the ice!

So the fact that the two major shows, at All Saints Cwmbach (4 December) and the Globe at Hay (23 December), attracted near-capacity audiences was astounding and we are grateful to everone who braved the conditions to attend.

Time to Remember the Poor starts, "Cold winter has come with its cold, chilly breath…" and as our audience disappeared behind the clouds of our own breathing at the first Christmas event at Hay Salem Chapel, we realised the absolute truth of the words.

At Dulas Court Dave, Cheryl and Phil only just made it in time because of having to take the long route on snow-packed roads to get there and The Village Quire fulfilled its booking with its smallest ever assemby - just five of us, plus Phil!

The next day, it was very nearly only Dave & Cheryl who turned up at Lynhales Hall due to a stranded delivery lorry blocking the long drive to the home.  But once again, the intrepid band of singers trudged through the snow and launched into the programme bang on time!

Then it was off to Hay for a carol-singing, charity pub crawl, where we found most of the pubs and restaurants emptied by the snow, but such were our accostations, the people gave generously to get rid of us and nearly £200 was added to our collection for Herefordshire Headway charity!

The last Christmas event was our concert at the Globe at Hay. Two-thirds of the Quire overcame the ravages of weather and ill-health to get there, though we were very sad that the Parti Mari Lwyd Llantrisant couldn't make it because of travel problems. However, we were overwhelmed by the packed house with many new faces and the great reception we were given, which closed this year's Christmas programme in the best way possible!
