The Quire had a fantastic Christmas season, netting £450 for Macmillan Nurses charity. We started at Dulas Court Residential Home near Ewyas Harold, Herefordshire, where we received its usual warm and welcoming reception and sang to a full house of residents, family and friends, before enjoying seasonal snacks and mulled wine. £92 was collected towards our charity in the form of a retiring collection. The next evening was our Village Christmas by candlelight event in All Saints Church, Cwmbach, Glasbury. It was a great night, performing to a full church despite the desperately wet weather! Thanks to everyone who turned out for the occasion, to the organisers for setting it all up and providing excellent mince pies and mulled wine afterwards. All present, quire included, were greatly entertained by Robin Scott Wilson's superb readings, following on from the atmosphere set for Christmas by the Cwmbach Quintet. Bryan Webber was present and recorded the whole event for us again, so watch out for examples appearing on this site. The following weekend, the quire was out around the pubs and restaurants of Hay-on-Wye with charity buckets and hat in hand. Through the great generosity of those we entertained, we collected nearly £240! The weekend before Christmas saw the quire being introduced to the Globe at Hay, which is a great performance space and filled us with idea for a hopeful return one day. From there, we went on another 'pub crawl' around Glasbury, Llowes and up to Painscastle. During this we gathered over £120 for the charity and were also well fed and 'watered' en route! The photographs below were taken at The Radnor Arms, Llowes, which we've frequently visited as we descend from a Friday evening rehearsal at Maesyronnen, but where we have not performed before. A special thanks to Colin Thomson for letting us do it and for 'warming our cockles' so generously whilst we were there!
