An entertainment to transport you back to the 18th and 19th century Welsh borders with West Gallery and shape-note music, folk-song and maybe the odd catch.  All sung in the energetic style of the Village Quire.  This show is based upon fascinating snippets from the local archives, and extracts from the pens of Raymond Williams, Alexander Cordell, Mary Webb and Pat Molloy – all entertainingly read by actor Phil Smith.

Meet the tempestuous minister, the lascivious milkman, inebriated ‘specials’, duelling young bucks, the ‘Rebecca’ rioter, and some larger than life characters from ‘above stairs’.  These were hard times but there was fun to be had if you knew where to find it ... and these coves knew!

Let this extraordinary music and the talents of Phil Smith bring it all to life for you!

Running time: 2 x 45 mins (plus interval)
